    Mission

The mission of the Dunedin High Fundamental SWAS community is to educate students to be productive in a global society by providing skills and knowledge for the 21st century.

    Vision

Dunedin High School Fundamental SWAS envisions a curriculum that offers students choices which enable them to be immediately prepared for the postsecondary environment.

Fundamental Schools provide a highly structured learning environment emphasizing parent involvement and where students are expected to exhibit exemplary achievement and conduct.  Homework is required most days.  There is a focus on student responsibility and self-discipline.  The dress code exceeds that of the school district. Parents are required to attend monthly meetings.  Arterial bus transportation (buses that operate on main roads with a limited number of stops) may be provided for students outside the Dunedin High School (DHS) attendance zone.

The fundamental program at Dunedin High School utilizes the same curriculum and instructional methods as the traditional program.  The curriculum is based on the Sunshine State Standards and the Pinellas County School’s  Student Expectations.  Students will be scheduled only with other fundamental students for their core (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies) classes when possible.  This will allow our fundamental students to still have access to the many different elective courses that we offer at DHS.

Rules and policies are strictly enforced and a strong emphasis is placed on the requirement that home and school work together to promote successful learning.  The SWAS model affords opportunities for traditional and special programs to implement the Fundamental philosophy/program in conjunction with their traditional educational opportunities.
