DUNEDIN HIGH SCHOOL WELCOMES YOU!

Falcon family, this is a reminder that progress reports will be distributed on Tuesday, December 18th.  Progress reports are used to provide the parent/guardian with information on the progress of their child. Please review the progress report that your child brings home. If you have any questions regarding specific classes, please contact your child’s teacher.   If your child is in need of tutoring, this is a reminder that the HOMEWORK CLUB is available Mon. through Thurs. immediately after school.  Teachers and student tutors are available.

In some cases students may need a more intense approach.  If your child is failing two or more classes, we offer the Back on Track (BOT) program.  This program will ensure that our students have the opportunity for academic learning in a supervised environment that promotes remediation and acceleration in the areas of English, math, science and Spanish. The BOT program is offered after school. The purpose of this program is to assist students in meeting their graduation requirements by passing the 3rd grading period and earning a half credit at the end of the 1st semester.  If you and your child are interested in this program, please email your grade level guidance counselor immediately.

Also, don’t forget, Thursdays are our Dress for Success day.  Students are encouraged to show their SWAG – Students With A Goal.  Show your SWAG-GER and come to school dressed to impress.

As we approach the holiday season, many families will not be able to share in this festive occasion.  The Dunedin High School staff will be competing against the Dunedin Highland Middle School staff in a charity flag football game.  Admission to the game will be two (2) canned food items or two dollars.  Proceeds will go to needy families in the Dunedin community.  Please come out and support our staff efforts in providing for our community.

Dunedin High School's Scottish Highlander Marching Band received a surprise phone call, informing them that they had been selected to march in this year’s annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade. The band was chosen because it best represents Scottish heritage and tradition that was needed for a special segment in the parade. The Dunedin High School Scottish Highlanders are one of two bands in the nation selected to march in this year’s Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade in Orlando.

"Performing at Disney is going to be a great way to end my senior year,” said Dunedin High School senior, Jacob Hollis, who also serves as the Band Sergeant. “Last year, we placed first at the Heritage Music Festival in Washington D.C. and performed on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. But you cannot get a higher honor than to be invited to perform at Disney!" Ian Black, the band’s Director, agrees. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our students. These kids have worked very hard, and I know they will make their community proud."

In closing, I want to thank you for trusting Dunedin High School with your child’s educational and academic development.   Thank you everyone and REMEMBER ...GOOOOOOO FALCONS!!!!!

Sincerely,

Reuben C. Hepburn, Principal
